The Mason Jar Tavern
Best Appetizers, Best Dessert
Did you know? The appetizer and dessert offerings are different, slightly, at the Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina locations of The Mason Jar Tavern? Fuquay offers a Fried Pretzel appetizer with beer cheese and ground mustard for dipping, while Holly Springs includes Chicken Lettuce Wraps.
Other favorites, at both locations, are Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls, Fried Green Tomatoes, Corn Fritters and the signature S’More in a Jar.
Portable Portugy
Best Food Truck
Known for classic Portuguese cuisine including favorites like bifana pork and grilled chourico sausage, freshly prepared by Chef Shawn Dagnall. You might catch them at The Mason Jar Lager Company, Century 21 Triangle Group Realty on Judd Parkway or Tapline Growler.
Follow @theportableportugy for updates.
Rescue Dogs & Catering
Honorable Mention Best Food Truck
A percentage of the daily proceeds from this gourmet hotdog food truck supports local first responders’ mental health and awareness.
The Blind Pelican
Best Cocktails, Best Seafood
It’s always island time at The Blind Pelican, where drink specials are seriously fun and ever changing. With monthly margarita specials, smoked Old Fashioneds and Manhattans, tequila flights and their famous Ultimate Bloody Marys, complete with a build-your-own garnish menu (grilled cheese, crab legs and fried oysters, for example), there is always a reason to raise a glass, or two.
Stick Boy Bread Company
Best Bakery, Honorable Mention Best Dessert
In addition to the amazing breads and pastries at Stick Boy Bread Company, owned by a local husband and wife team, order their scratch-made pizza dough and buttermilk biscuits to take-and-bake at home.
Bombshell Beer Company
Best Craft Brewery
A female-owned, award-winning microbrewery that loves to engage with the community, through a weekly run club, seasonal spirit nights and special events, like the Valentine’s chocolate & beer pairing (yes, please!), and frequent local food trucks at their Holly Springs tap room and beer garden.
My Way Tavern
Best Neighborhood Bar, Honorable Mention Best Burger and Fries
It makes sense that the winner of Best Neighborhood Bar would have a really stunning bar. My Way Tavern’s horseshoe-style bar was built with reclaimed wood from a 160-year-old barn in eastern North Carolina by local craftsman Paul Morgan.
“The wood is beautiful tulip poplar that was cut into large planks,” explained Morgan, in an interview with Cary Magazine.
Sidle up and enjoy one of 18 beers on tap, 15 hailing from NC, or one of 80 varieties of bottled beer.
